About

Located in a beautiful Grade II listed building, we sit above the hustle and bustle of the city on floors 2 to 7 of the original Royal Hotel dating back to 1866.

On the same street as The Principality Stadium (formerly the Millennium Stadium), The Royal Hotel Cardiff is slap bang in the middle of Cardiff City centre. Just 200m from Central Train Station, we’re just opposite the huge shopping area and just 400m from Cardiff Castle and Bute Park. Cardiff Bay is a 30 minute walk.

All rooms have full air conditioning, free wifi, in room safe, Freeview TV, an iron and board in each room, tea & coffee making facilities and views of city life or the new BBC Wales Studios.

Whilst we have made as many modifications as we could, the sheer nature of an old building (built 1866-1881) means that there are steps to some areas of the building and along some bedroom corridors. The hotel is not suitable for large mobility scooters, debatable for smaller versions. Please contact the hotel if you feel that this would cause issue for you.

The hotel does not accept American Express.

Please see the ‘How To Find Us’ page before driving into Cardiff, with developments and perpetual road layout changes, it can be extremely challenging and frustrating to drive into central Cardiff.
