Please be aware that on large city events, especially concerts and rugby in the Principality Stadium, the council will enforce extensive road closures across the city centre.
Businesses in Cardiff will receive communications of road closures but sometimes it is at very short notice.
Usually, most roads in the city centre will close several hours before the event, will remain closed throughout the event and for a further couple of hours after the event.
No motor vehicles can move in or out of the areas, especially the areas around the hotel
The NCP car park on Westgate Street, that several hotels use, will likely be locked shut during the road closure times
It is best to plan ahead, most likely it will mean that you’ll need to arrive into Cardiff very early. Depending on how busy we are, we will attempt to get you checked in early but that can never be guaranteed. We will make every effort to store your bags for you though.
There are alternative car parks that remain accessible but they are then in very high demand.
The council often provide event day parking that is expensive and time limited.
Sadly, all of our Park & Ride service into the city centre have closed down.
Generally, we would advise trying to get the train into Cardiff, however, that does rely on finding somewhere to park at the other end. Sadly, Cardiff is a long way behind solving our public transport dilemmas.
We do offer multiple night discounts and do honour those over the events. Staying an extra night does relieve a lot of stress.
